Westport –Louisburgh – Delphi Valley

From Westport take the R335 to Murrisk where you will find Croagh Patrick Irelands holy mountain 762 meters high also the famine ship and Murrisk Abbey past the beaches and onto Louisburg. Past Louisburg at the crossroads go straight ahead for the wonderful beaches of White strand and Silver strand where the film Tristan and Izolda was made, watch it before you come and wonder at the marvellous scenery.
Back to the crossroads at Louisburg turn for Leenane  down the majestic Delphi Valley   past the lakes where Prince Charles stayed and fished for the elusive sea trout. Down towards the Killary fiord  and on by Ashleeagh falls then make the decision turn right for Leenaune, Clifden, or turn left back into Westport

Westport  –  Achill Island

From Westport take the road to Newport and 1 mile on Mulranny road watch out for signs for Nephin Drive turn right and travel in by the Furnace lakes into the forest – Majestic Turn around in the forest and come back to the crossroads turn right by the Salmon research centre and back through the lakes until you come out onto the road to Mulranny  onto Mulranny and after the village turn left at the sign for Atlantic Drive and enjoy the lovely scenery on this part of the drive, at the main road turn left for Achill, over the bridge onto the island and after the village turn left for Atlantic drive and this is the nicest drive in Ireland  turn left for Keel and onto Keel bay with its breathtaking views and you are on Irelands highest  sea cliffs (walk of 20 mins around the mountain) from Keel back to Keel and left for the deserted village and back to Westport. A wonderful day out.

Westport – Clifden

From Westport take the N59 Leenane road to Leenane passing by Moher Lake and Carrowkennedy on through some wonderful scenic rugged mayo landscape and as you approach Leenane you pass by the Killary Fjord the deepest fjord in Europe, into the village of Leenane where the film The Field by John B Keane was filmed turn right for Clifden past the Killary Fjord boat trip dock is located, on towards Clifden and you come to Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled Garden( well worth a visit) on to Connemara National park and the Letterfrack all the way into the market town of Clifden. Spend an hour or two around the town and head out the N59 towards Galway past Ballynahinch Lakes onto towards Recess and turn left on the R344 a beautiful drive back towards KYLEMORE Abbey past Lough Inagh lake. Turn right for Leenane and back into Westport

Westport- Aughagower- Tourmakedy- Clonbur- Cong

From Westport go to Aughower  with its famous Round Tower on the R330 turn right in the village and head up the mountain over the top of Callaugh hill where you nearly have 360 degree views of all of mayo  down the hill an on over Aille river bridge where at t junction turn right and next t junction turn left for Tourmakeady onto the R300 turn right and on to sharp turn to r300 for Clonbur in the village take the road R345 to Cong and visit Ashford Castle and back into Ballinrobe and on to Westport.
